General Administration
Once the child arrives at the school, parents are required to sign them in. The State of California requires you to walk your child into the school building and sign in and out daily. Signature sheets are located at the front desk. These signature sheets are for documentation purposes and should be signed with a full signature by adults only.
After sign-in, walk your child to the classroom or play area and directly to the teacher on duty. If classes have already started, please leave your child with a staff member in the front office who will be in charge of bringing him/her to his/her respective classroom.
At departure time, parents are required to sign out for their child before they can pick up their child in the classroom or at the playground or multi-purpose room (for the afternoon program). Please try not to pick up your child in the middle of class, but wait for the class to be over before entering the classroom. This will help us to have fewer disruptions of our classes. If you must pick up your child during class time, please ask at the front desk for assistance.
Mission Viejo Montessori School will release children only to those persons whom parents have authorized in writing. We will ask unfamiliar adults for photo identification before we will allow the child to leave the facility with them. Please be sure to list all authorized people on the Identification Emergency form. Please do not call the school to authorize pickup, as authorization must be in writing. In the case of a separation or divorce if one parent is restrained by the courts from picking up the child, we must have a copy of this order on file.
It is imperative that you notify the school if you will be unable to pick your child up at the regularly designated time. Early drop off or late pickup may be arranged with the Director for times of special circumstances.
Mission Viejo Montessori opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m. (Toddlers: 5:00 p.m.). Any child dropped before opening time (or before their regularly scheduled drop-off time) will incur a $1.00 per child fee for each minute they are early. Any child left at school beyond closing time (or after their regularly scheduled pick-up time) will incur a $1.00 per child fee for each minute until the child is picked up.
Mission Viejo Montessori is an academic prep school for children 2 years through Elementary. We consider several factors when placing a child in our program. These include matching the child’s developmental readiness to the placement that is available. Children from 20 months to 3 years are placed in our toddler classrooms. Our pre-primary classrooms have children ages 3, 4, and 5 in a multi-age group. Our Kindergarten classroom typically groups children 4½-6, but this does sometimes change depending on our enrollment for the year. Our Lower Elementary classroom groups children age 6 to 9 and our Upper Elementary 9 to 12. Our Elementary students must meet state age requirements and demonstrate appropriate competencies.
